The Aldasoro Ranch stands as a beacon of Telluride's storied past, tracing its roots to the early 1900s when it was christened after a pioneering Basque sheepherder family. Originating with three Aldasoro brothers, this enclave once sprawled across a mammoth 5,000 acres, tending to vast sheep herds. The modern-day Aldasoro Ranch manifests as a subdivision, encompassing 166 homesites laid out over 1,515 scenic acres.

History weaves its intricate tapestry here, with the iconic Hogg Ranch structures presiding over the entryway to Aldasoro Ranch, a constant reminder of a time when they served as dairy hubs, storage facilities, and shelters for livestock. Notably, Mr. Hogg’s legacy doesn’t end there; he marked his place in history by drafting the federal bill that birthed the Mesa Verde National Park during his tenure as a U.S. Congressman in the early 20th century. The tale of Aldasoro is incomplete without mentioning Jose Joaquin Aldasoro’s journey. From the Pyrenees Mountains of Spain to Utah, and finally to Telluride, his legacy lived on through his son, Albert, who continued the ranching traditions with his wife, Yula Mae Anderson. The evolution of Aldasoro Ranch took a significant turn under the stewardship of their daughters – Pam Bennett, Angie Petersen, and Cristine Mitchell. Amidst the region’s shift from a ranching and mining epicenter to a resort hub, these three visionaries steered Aldasoro into its contemporary phase, culminating in the formation of the Aldasoro Ranch Homeowners Company in the mid-1980s.

Today, Aldasoro Ranch is synonymous with upscale living against a backdrop of nature’s splendor. The Homeowners Company (HOC) presides over an array of bespoke single-family homes, nestled amidst plots ranging from 1 to 15 acres. Residents are privileged with 620 acres of open space, painting a canvas of aspen, scrub oak, prairie grass, and wildflowers. Each plot offers unparalleled panoramas of the Telluride Region and the majestic San Juan Mountains. The community’s prime location ensures that a quick 15-minute drive brings one to the heart of Downtown Telluride, its renowned ski resorts, and the golf course. Functioning as the community’s guardian, the Aldasoro Ranch HOC provides an array of services, from water supply and covenant enforcement to design review and trail upkeep, ensuring that the area remains as pristine and inviting as the memories of its foundational days.
